Welcome Registration Letter

by Suzanne Schieltz on September 1, 2011

Dear Swim Team Families:

On behalf of the Board of Directors and swim coaches we want to welcome you to another swim season! We are looking forward to another fun and successful season. The senior swimmers start swimming August 29th, and all ages will begin practice on September 6th. Please bring any friends or neighbors who might be interested in joining the team to practice.

We are happy to report that we will not be raising dues for the upcoming 2011-2012 season. However, this season we will be implementing an online registration and payment system. We want to encourage all families to use this new system as it will streamline our accounting and help us manage the team’s records. Although the system is set up to take credit cards and echecks, there will still be an option to send payment through the mail. Monthly payments will still be an option; however you will need to opt out 5 business days before the first of the month or you will be charged. Suzanne has attached the link to the online registration; it is also available on the team website. We would like to encourage everyone to register as soon as possible, especially the senior swimmers who have begun practice. Please address any questions you have on the new registration system to Suzanne.

I would also like to remind our swim families that we are currently in the process of soliciting sponsorships for the upcoming 2011 season. If your business or family would like to be a sponsor, please let Suzanne.

If you recall, at the end of the season we solicited your feedback on a short membership survey. Thank you to all members who completed the survey. Your ideas, suggestions and comments will be beneficial to the coaches to help plan for the 2011 season.

We will be having our mandatory fall meeting mid-September, please check out your email or the team webpage for the date this week. We will be discussing the swim meet schedule and fundraising efforts for the season.

Thanks for your continued support and enthusiasm. We hope you and your swimmer have a great swim season!

PREPARE TO BE YOUR BEST ON YOUR WORST DAYS

by Suzanne Schieltz on February 28, 2011

Prepare to be your Best on your Worst Days!

Most athletes shine when they “feel” perfect and the conditions are ideal when its time to compete. This is that golden moment where everything seems to be just right. You stand up on the blocks in your favorite lane at the Olympic Games and you feel like you are a million bucks. No one can beat you because you have never felt this good. In that case its easy to perform at the top of your game. But, what if you don’t feel perfect? You are in your least favorite lane. You are shaking from being nervous and feel like your legs are noodles. Are you still going to win like you would in your perfect world?

More often than not athletes fail because they are so accustomed to ONLY performing at their top when they feel perfect and the conditions are exactly what they need and want. The majority don’t feel perfect at race time and don’t have the exact conditions necessary for that perfect swim to just happen with ease. When that’s the case many fail because they didn’t prepare for it! More often than not you will not have ideal conditions for your race or you may not feel perfect. Maybe your plans may need to change on the fly seconds before your swim. Will you be ready for that and still not have it affect your perfect race?

On your worst day when you feel horrible from getting sick and the pool is to hot, will you be able to simulate your perfect mindset and perform at the level needed to be successful at the big meet? This is what you train for! Expect the best, but prepare for the worst! When you are put in not so ideal conditions learn to step up and perform at top levels. This is how you can increase your success rate at the big show. This will help you make sure no matter what happens you WILL succeed!
